The next day, Jared and Liam were having coffee at a local shop when their radios warbled and they were advised of a shooting in the rural area at a church retreat site. Liam knew the general area and remembered it was near the large Provincial Park about 25 minutes out of town. Liam was surprised when two of the city police cars blew by them, obviously heading the same way as they were. They both knew the city police would back up the regional police when they needed it. They both watched the City Police Emergency Response Team vans went by them, also in a hurry. Both guys wished the big ambulances traveled faster and handled better at higher speeds. The maximum they could travel in the big unit was 125-130 kilometers per hour if the roads were good. They were built for the patient's treatment and not high speed.
Rob called Jared on his cell phone and told him he would be heading out with two more units. They weren't getting much information from the police yet but they had learned that it had turned into a stand-off. Rob and the extra units would be fifteen minutes behind Jared and Liam.
They pulled up to the staging area the police had thrown together just down the road from the camp. Jared and Liam parked off to one side where they could watch the activities. Tyler ran up to them carrying a carbine across his chest.
"Jared, I still haven't heard what started all this but the pastor is up there with an unknown amount of men, unknown weapons and the kids who were in Bible camp. We think they're all in either the chapel or main part of the big building," explained Tyler.
Liam jumped in, "So no one is hurt?"
Tyler shook his head no. "They've asked for more ambulances in case things go bad, especially with kids in there."
They could hear the additional ambulances arriving and turned to watch them drive up. Rob was in the first one. Tyler stopped them, motioning Rob to stay with them and the other two units to head down the road to a field on the right. The paramedics looked a little disappointed they weren't going to stay there until Tyler explained it was the headquarters area they were being sent to.
"So, what the hell is going over there, Tyler?" asked Rob.
"We're just not sure yet, Rob," he started. Tyler's explanation was cut short as a bullet hit the revolving emergency lights on the ambulance, shattering part of them. A second bullet took out the driver's side window.
Tyler yelled, "Sniper!" and then said the same into his radio. He had just turned to tell everyone to hit the dirt when he saw Rob was absolutely pale and staring at a bullet which was motionless and hanging in the air about eight inches from his face.
Rob was stammering, "What the fuck is going on here?" while staring at the bullet.
Jared was standing with both hands held up in a stop gesture. There were additional bullets heard ricocheting into the trees beside them after hitting something solid. Rob was looking at the bullet in front of him when Liam gently reached up and grabbed it out of the air in his hand. Rob slowly turned his head to look at Liam and Jared and saw both men's eyes were the purest white light he had ever seen.
Liam's eyes returned to normal while Jared's remained white.
"Rob, we had hoped to introduce you to our inner strengths during a sweat lodge ceremony and not like this," explained Liam.
"What the fuck are you two?" demanded Rob.
Tyler spoke up, "You are in the presence of Liam or Soaring Eagle. He is a very powerful apprentice and soulmate to Jared. Jared is known as Masqua, Sacred Medicine Man of the People. They have many abilities between the two of them, one of which just prevented that bullet from hitting you between your eyes."
Liam handed Rob the bullet. "Keep this as a good luck charm, Rob." Rob took it from him slowly. When Liam touched Rob's hand, he reached deep into Rob's mind and showed him their activities in the sweat lodge. When he let go of his hand, Rob had regained his color and looked much happier.
"Thank you, Liam," said Rob. "Thank you for showing me what you guys are and for saving my life."
Jared spoke up, "It was not your time yet, Rob. You have a long path ahead of you and it was not the place of the dark one to alter your path."
"Josh is in the bush somewhere. He was one of the first ones to hold the perimeter until backup arrived," said Tyler.
Liam looked up at the sky and then back down to Tyler. "He's safe Tyler, and trust your instincts. We're all connected and when someone is in trouble, everyone else knows."
Rob was quiet, but he was listening and watching everything going on. The sound of a bullet bouncing off the ambulance surprised everyone.
"I've had enough of him," stated Liam calmly. Liam looked in the direction of the shooter and his eyes glowed brightly. "There are two of them, and both of their rifles just jammed. Now they can't stop headbutting the tree in front of them." About a minute later, Liam spoke again, "Both of them are unconscious now, and will awaken with splitting headaches."
Jared was smiling, "Hitting their heads on the tree? That took imagination, Liam."
"The tree was handy and short of something more drastic or permanent..." replied Liam.
"You have that type of control?" asked Rob.
"Sometimes it works like that, and other times we can't interfere," replied Jared.
"Liam, why don't we go out there and bring those two bozos in?" asked Tyler.
Liam smiled, "Sounds like a plan, brother Tyler."
"Shall we go, Brother Liam," asked Tyler as the two of them headed into the trees.
"You guys are so casual about this," stated Rob.
Jared smiled, "We've been together as a family, and we don't even think about it, Rob. It's all so normal to us now, and to be honest Rob; we have never been so open with our gifts to someone like this."
"I have so many questions, Jared," replied Rob.
"Questions are good Rob, but hold them until we can get together after this stand-off is done," answered Jared.
They both turned to look at Liam and Tyler carrying two young men over their shoulders. Both were having no problems with the load or carrying the weapons they had been using. They continued walking down the road to the headquarters, with Jared and Rob following behind them. As they entered the headquarters area, a few people came forward to ask what had happened and take the men off their shoulders. They explained how they had been sniped at and had seen the men running into a tree after they had finished their shots. The Regional Police Inspector looked deep into Jared's eyes as he was reciting the story and finally nodded his head in acceptance. The Inspector invited them to the briefing which would start in a few minutes.
The briefing covered the location of the kids and the locations of the various men in the building. They did appear to be well armed and the building was reinforced against most weapons the police would be using. The start of the event had been totally unexpected. A patrol member of the regional police had stopped in at the camp to speak with one of the cooks and advise her of a death in the family. As he drove into the yard, an alarm sounded and men started to run around in the compound with guns. The patrol officer got out of the compound quickly, but not before his rear window was shot out.
Their intention was to maintain containment and talk with the church crew to solve it peacefully. Their contact had not gone well with the pastor, but they would continue speaking. What the police were afraid of is another Waco or Jim Jones type of event happening.
Jared, Liam, and Rod found Tyler and Josh in the area where the free coffee and donuts were being served.
Rob had a big smile on his face, "Guys, this is a real stereotype… cops eating donuts!"
About six officers in the area gave him the finger but had donut filled smiles on their faces.
"Suicidal Rob? I mean, insulting cops when you're surrounded by them," laughed Jared.
Tyler was enjoying this. "We just consider the source of the comment being from an ambulance driver."
Liam and Jared gave Tyler the finger.
"We need to end this before it goes too far," stated Jared.
Liam was nodding his head in agreement. "It has to end before people get hurt."
"How can you do that," asked Rob.
"It's easy, Rob. Would you and Liam pick up the pieces of the lights which were shot off and bring the ambulance into the big staging area? I need to have a chat with the Inspector. I believe he is a sensitive and has an awareness of us, Liam. I want to try and suggest to him that we could help," explained Jared.
Tyler and Josh had been assigned to look after the ambulance crews as they were now just considered to be extra. The Inspector was indeed a sensitive, and Jared spoke with him for a few minutes. He didn't give him a lot of information, but the Inspector would contact Jared if he needed something.
It was about ten minutes later Jared realized he hadn't seen Liam or Rob return with the ambulance. He grabbed Josh and Tyler and they went looking for them. When they got to the ambulance, the back doors were open and the jump kits were missing. They looked around and saw tracks coming out of the weeds along the road and onto the road. They also located four sets of tracks heading back into the ditch. The weeds and undergrowth indicated they had traveled across the ditch and into the forest.
"They've been taken!" Tyler exclaimed.
Josh was upset, "Those fuckers. We have to get them back before they get hurt."
"You got that right Josh, let's head in and follow them," said Tyler.
Jared just smiled as he stared in the direction the men had been taken. "That's not necessary guys. They're both safe, and walking to the compound."
"Let's go get them before they get hurt," said Tyler quickly.
Jared stood with his hands in front and fingers spread. His hands were glowing white. "Enough!" said Jared with enough force to shake the ground. "They've taken my soulmate, and we will now deal with the evil this man has been spreading, but it will be done the right way."
Jared put his hands by his side, and the glowing dissipated. He turned his head down the road and closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them again, he looked at Tyler and Josh.
"What are we going to do? I mean as our tribe of brothers," said Josh.
"I have a plan," stated Jared. "But, I only want to repeat it once."
"What do you mean once?" Tyler asked. As he was asking, the Regional Police Inspector came running around the corner of the ambulance.
"I have never been summoned somewhere like that before," the Inspector said a little miffed when he saw Jared with the two city police officers. "What is this all about?"
"We don't have a lot of time Sir, so I will cut to the chase," said Jared calmly. "Rob and Liam have been taken at gunpoint to the camp. I believe it to be a couple of the crazy pastor's men who grabbed them."
"Why didn't you tell me sooner? How long ago? You are not helping the situation by not telling us and obstructing…" He was cut off in mid-rant when Jared had enough of listening to him.
Jared moved his hands, palms out from his body towards the Inspector. His eyes started to glow white, and it rapidly spread to his entire body.
The Inspector stepped back. "You're more than a sensitive, young man."
"I am a lot more than just a sensitive, Inspector. You may never have the opportunity to meet another full Shaman. I am Jared, the Sacred Medicine Man of the People. Liam, one of the men taken is also a Shaman and Medicine Man." Jared used his hands to indicate towards Josh and Tyler. "These two men with me are our protectors and both have the spirit of timber wolves. The other man who was taken is the ambulance service manager, and not of the spirit," said Jared very clearly.
"We need to get going and rescue your people," said the Inspector.
"There is no need for your intervention now, Inspector. He has taken my soulmate prisoner, and the Creator is sending me to deal with the evil in that camp. There is no one in any danger now, except the evil ones," explained Jared. "They will be dealt with by Liam and me, and if they survive the encounter, they will never forget meeting us. I need your men ready to move in after we're done with them. We don't take care of prisoners."
"Move in when?"
"We will send the children out through the front doors, and then shortly thereafter the adults. It will be peaceful," said Jared.
"I don't get this, but I will do it, Jared," said the Inspector.
As he was speaking, two of the biggest timber wolves he had ever seen walked out of the forest and sat next to Jared, looking up at him. The Inspector stepped backward in shock.
Jared ceased to glow, and he looked down and rubbed both of them on their heads. "Did you two get lost?"
The one wolf whined and looked at the other. Jared laughed at this. "Troy, you know better than to follow Darren's directions. He has no sense of direction as a man let alone a spirit." Both of the wolves whined. "You two settle it later," said Jared laughing. He then looked up at the Inspector. "These are my other two protectors, Darren and Troy. Inspector, Josh and Tyler will be entering a meditative state in the back of the ambulance and will need protection while they are in meditation, and no one to bother them. Can you do that?"
"Yes, I can," said the Inspector. Tyler and Josh entered the back of the ambulance, closing the doors behind them. Jared walked around the entire unit and locked all the doors. Two more huge wolves came out of the ditch and trotted to the first two. They greeted each other and then sat two on each side of Jared.
"We're ready to go in, Inspector," said Jared.
"Good luck, Jared and friends," said the Inspector.
"Luck has nothing to do with it, Inspector. I am a messenger who is being sent by the Creator to deliver the message personally." Jared smiled a wicked smile when he said, "And they don't stand a chance against Liam, our wolf spirit protectors, and me."
The Inspector looked into Jared's eyes deeply. "I truly believe what you are saying, Jared. I just wish I could watch this."
Jared looked at the four wolves and nodded his head slightly towards the treeline. They each barked once and headed to the trees with their noses down towards the ground. They stopped at the treeline; The wolves had found the trail left by their friends, and they looked at Jared and yipped.
"Go ahead guys," called out Jared. "Do not be seen, and stay in the treeline around the camp." They yipped and all pushed and shoved each other trying to be first as they disappeared into the trees.
"They are like that even when they're not in their spirit guide forms. Good brotherly competition," Jared said to the Inspector.
The inspector was using his phone to call for men to guard the ambulance. He was thinking to himself that he had no clue who these guys were or what the hell was going on, but he knew the bad guys were about to meet more than their match. He watched as Jared walked towards the treeline and disappeared. He shook his head. Jared didn't walk into the treeline; the Inspector knew he had seen him disappear.
The pastor had wanted a medic inside the compound in case there was some shooting so he had sent his men to try and kidnap one. The men had been watching from the trees and watched as the two medics walked down the road without a policeman with them. They had come up behind the two of them as they were looking in the back of the ambulance. The older guy had started to struggle until the younger one had told him to settle down, to cooperate fully and no one would be hurt. Bob, one of the gunman, thought it was very unusual to hear someone as calm as the young guy talking. It didn't matter, the older guy settled down and they both cooperated the entire way back to the camp.
Both of them were sitting, each tied to a chair in the back of the chapel. The pastor had been running around and spouting hellfire and brimstone about the forces of evil which were surrounding and threatening them. The associates of the pastor were buying right into it as well. The pastor finally walked over to the two men who were tied up.
"Are you Christians?" he asked.
Rob spoke first and replied, "I'm Catholic."
Liam looked him square in the eyes and stated very clearly, "I believe in the one and only Creator of all."
The pastor looked disgusted at them. "So, neither of you has been reborn?"
Rob looked confused. "I go to church and I was baptized. Is that what you mean, sir?"
"No, it isn't. You're a heathen." He turned to Liam. "What about you, boy?"
Liam smiled, "No sir. The first time was hard enough on my mother so I didn't think it would be reasonable to be born again, especially now that I am this big."
The pastor's face turned a dark red at the disrespect of this young man. "You smart-assed heathen piece of shit," he said as he backhanded Liam.
Liam smiled at the pastor, which made him even angrier. He locked eyes with Liam. "You're the faggot who is the partner of the faggot who caused all the problems for my loyal people, aren't you?"
Liam smiled at the pastor. "Guilty as charged. Your loyal people were all lying, thieving, prejudiced..." He was cut off by the pastor backhanding him again.
"Liam, stop making him mad before you get hurt," pleaded Rob.
"Rob, he can't hurt me. I have the protection of the Creator," said Liam calmly. "Rob, the pastor is not what he seems to be; you are only seeing his physical form."
The man punched Liam in the face three times rapidly. "You are nothing but a faggot piece of shit. You are a sinner and my followers will prevail. I was born to lead people into the light of truth. People like you need to be destroyed; you are an abomination before my eyes!"
Liam showed no damage to his face when he looked at the pastor. "That's a bit of a God complex, isn't it, Rev?"
Rob pleaded with Liam. "Don't piss him off anymore, please Liam. Stop it please."
"Listen to the man, faggot. He may not be reborn yet, but he is speaking with wisdom," said the pastor with an evil smile on his face.
"Last chance pastor, let us go and put your weapons down. Give it up," said Liam. "I came with your men voluntarily to meet you because I was sent here to stop you."
"No one can stop me, faggot!" screamed the pastor as he backhanded Liam once again. This time it was with enough force to cause Liam and the chair to fall over. He hit the floor very hard.
Rob called to him in a panic, "Are you ok, Liam?" He then turned to the pastor. "Some man of God you are, hitting a man tied to a chair."
The pastor raised his hand and was about to strike Rob on the side of the face when Liam shouted, "Stop, you will not hurt him!" loud enough to cause the chapel to shake.
The pastor stepped backward. "EVIL!" he yelled at the two men.
Liam now stood up, free of his bonds. He looked at Rob, his eyes flashed briefly and he was free as well. "I've had enough of this, Rob. It's time to deal with this false profit and evil man."
The pastor was standing there and having trouble forming words after what he had seen. He started backing up down the aisle towards the front of the church. Finally, he yelled, "Philip, Mark, shoot these heathens and let them rot in Hell for eternity."
Suddenly, a voice came from behind the pastor. "That's not a good idea."
He turned to see a man standing in front of the church alter, dressed in leather and furs like an Indian. There were four wolves with him. "Where did you come from? Who the fuck are you?" demanded the pastor. The other men in the chapel were obviously startled as much as the pastor.
"I am Masqua, Sacred Medicine Man of the People and messenger of the Creator," said Jared. Jared looked over at Liam. "Mikisow, my partner and soulmate. Will you join me here at the front, my love?"
"GAY HEATHENS inside my chapel!" the pastor screeched. He turned and looked at the back and saw no one there anymore. He spun around and saw the man who had been called Liam now standing next to the man he had called Jared. He saw Liam was also dressed in buckskins and furs, but of a different style. What really caught his eye was the huge staff with furs and feathers hanging off the top of it. The other man who had been with them was obviously hiding behind the altar as the pastor could only see his head sticking slightly above it.
Liam stood forward, "This has gone on long enough. The Creator has sent us to cleanse this sacred place which has been soiled by both your actions and the evil within your hearts."
"What are you two going to do about it?" asked one man off to the left side as he lifted the gun in his hands.
"As a sample for you, we could do this," said Jared. He raised his hand up slowly as if motioning a person to stop. Jared aimed his hand in the direction of the man quickly pushed it out.
The man felt like he had been hit by a brick wall. He dropped his gun and flew backward until he slammed painfully into the wall. The man hung there for a moment until Jared dropped his hand to his side. The man pinned against the wall fell to the floor unconscious.
Jared turned to Liam, pointed to the man near a window of the church and said, "Your turn."
Liam made the same gesture with his hand and the man was pushed backward and straight out smashing his way through the window, landing on the ground in the front of astounded policemen. "What the hell?" yelled out one of the police officers as they pounced on the man to handcuff him.
The pastor was in shock with what he had just seen, but he had had enough control left to grab his own gun in his sling. He quickly raised the gun to fire it at the two young men when Liam reached out his hand, palm facing sideways. He closed his hand into a fist and the gun the pastor was holding crushed above the trigger effectively jamming the entire assembly. The pastor pulled the trigger but nothing happened. Liam used his hand in a gesture of throwing his hand to the side. The gun flew out of the hands of the pastor, snapping the sling and clattered to the floor a good distance away.
"What you have done here is encouraged hate within the ranks of the children of God and the Creator. You have led these people in false worship while stealing their money, using the church to create a drug lab and as a distribution center for your personal gain," said Jared.
"You are spreading poison throughout our community physically through the drugs and spiritually through your words," added Liam.
"Who are you to question me as the leader of the church? You are standing in my church and you have the balls to question me," the man said.
The four wolves growled at the man, their hackles raised high.
Liam's words came loudly and shook the building, "This may be your building, but you are a false idol, a façade to cover your real work of spreading evil. You are standing here with weapons and the intent to kill other people who stand in your way. It is time to have your actions judged and subjected to his punishment."
"It is time for you and your people to be judged in the Creator's court," added Jared. Both Liam and Jared's bodies slowly began to glow. It had begun in the middle of their chest and kept expanding until their bodies were both a pure white luminescence. The entire chapel was filling with the bright, white light. Rob actually turned away from the two men because they were becoming too bright to look at.
There were four men who were moving slowly towards a fire escape door. "Get them," Jared commanded his wolves. They bounded over the pews and each wolf landed on a man before they could even raise a weapon. Not one of the men had expected anything like this, not even in their nightmares. These were the biggest, blackest wolves they had ever seen in their lives, and now they had their mouths on the men's throats, the teeth just touching their skin.
"Bring them over here guys," asked Jared. Three of the wolves released the men's throats only to grab the front of their clothing in their teeth. They carried the men over to where Jared was like a puppy carrying his rag doll toy back to his master.
Jared turned to look at the last wolf. "Tyler, do you need help?" The wolf was growling very loudly now, and he was also slowly beginning to close his jaws onto the man's neck. Jared saw the man had a small knife in his hand.
"You have a choice to make. Drop the knife and live, or be dead in five seconds," said Jared calmly. "When I reach five, Tyler will clamp his jaws shut. One...two...three...." The knife clattered to the ground. "Good choice. Bring him here buddy."
Tyler was the biggest of the four wolves, and wanting to give some payback, he shook the man rapidly while he carried him over to his friends. After he had dropped the man on the floor, he turned around and raised his leg.
"Tyler, no!" said Liam quickly. Tyler's ears flattened as he dropped his leg. He looked at Liam with pleading eyes. Liam smiled at him, and his ears went back up. "Come here, guys." The four wolves bounded up and sat on each side of Liam and Jared.
Liam moved forward to within about two feet of the pastor and extended his staff to touch him on the shoulder. "You are not the man you seem to be, Pastor. The shell is human, but the insides are pure evil." Liam lifted his staff and pounded the base of the staff onto the floor. A sound of thunder reverberated throughout the church. He did it a second time, and then a third.
After the third time, he chanted, then Liam reversed the staff and gently brought it down on the shoulder of the pastor.
The pastor screamed in agony as white and red sparks flew everywhere. The man screamed in unearthly agony as Liam kept the staff on his shoulder. As the man thrashed about, a black shadow was seen almost moving out his body but fighting to remain within it. Liam concentrated more and the red sparks were decreasing as the white sparks increased. This caused the man to wail even louder. The shadow was seen separating from its host, but not enough. Jared moved next to Liam and put one hand on his shoulder. The sparks tripled in size, with the white ones bouncing around the church now. Suddenly Jared felt a hand on his shoulder and realized it was Troy. Troy, Darren, Josh, and Tyler were there as well now in their human form.
Liam raised his head and called out to the world above, "May the Creator guide my hands to do his work."
The force being created by the six of them was too much for the shadow spirit and it left the pastor's body as it fell to the ground.
Liam turned to the shadow as it hung in the air. Suddenly a red coloured orb hit it in the chest, fired from the back of the church. They all saw the buffalo standing there. The red color did not last long as the shadow screamed a high-pitched sound which caused everyone's hair to stand on their necks before it exploded into dust.
Jared turned to the men and said, "Stand before us, do we need to do it do it for you?" They stood and moved slowly to where they were wanted.
Liam stood forward, reached out and held his staff parallel to the floor, at chest height of the four. "Put your right hand on the staff." They did so.
Jared moved forward and grabbed the staff as well.
"Are we ready, Masqua?" asked Liam
"We are always ready, Mikisow, my partner and soulmate," said Jared.
The two men started to chant. Once again, their bodies become luminescent with white light. The four men with their hands on their friends' shoulders also become luminescent. The inside of the church was as bright as if a phosphorus flare had been light. The chanting continued until Liam yelled, "Leave these men now, spirits!"
Rob was now standing up from behind the church alter. He had seen things like what he was watching in movies and on TV. It was all special effects and pyrotechnics. Fake, all of it. He could not believe he was seeing it for real. Or was he unconscious and imagining this? That's it, he thought, "I've been hit in the head and I'm suffering from a brain injury. There is no way this really be happening."
Suddenly, four shadows flew out of the four men's bodies and quickly moved to the back of the church, and knelt in front of the buffalo. The people present heard four different tones of screeching being emitted from the shadows.
"You are asking for mercy, why should it be granted?" the buffalo asked.
There were more screeching sounds which continued for a minute, and then silence. "Is that the best reasons you can give me, evil ones?" the buffalo said.
There were more screeching sounds from all four of them. From the speed and pitches of the screeching, they must have been begging.
"Enough," said the buffalo calmly as he cut them off.
"You will be released," the buffalo said. His eyes turned a luminescent green as he looked at each of the shadows. The shadows slowly turned into four floating spirits of youths about 15-20 years of age. The four of them thanked the buffalo, drifted over to the six men standing and thanked them as well. They departed quickly up and through the roof of the church.
The buffalo moved down the aisle towards the men on the floor and Jared's tribe.
He spoke to them all. "I will use your English names today so you understand me clearly." His big head moved towards where Rob was standing in utter disbelief. "Come and join us, Rob," he said calmly. Slowly, Rob moved down and stood behind Jared and Liam. He looked at Tyler, Josh, Darren, and Troy and they were all smiling back at him.
Troy spoke up. "Hey boss, guess I should tell you I'm with them. Rob, believe what is happening and what you have seen. It's real."
The buffalo coughed to get their attention. "I am very proud of what all you men did today. Together, you destroyed a purely evil entity who has been plaguing mankind since the beginning of time. Although I helped, it was only a matter of time before you would have finished him yourselves. The other four spirits were young people who had been killed with his poisons and their souls he had taken. They begged for forgiveness and confessed their truths to me. I chose to release the evil energy within them because they sincerely asked for help and their true spirits were allowed to move them on into the next world in peace. They thanked each one of you for releasing them from their personal hell."
Jared called out to Rob, "Rob, can you go find the children and release them first?" He turned to Liam and explained the order in which they had promised the people to leave as a signal all was safe.
Liam spoke, "Creator, I am honoured you have spoken to me and allowed me to do your work." The rest echoed his statement.
"It is I who am honoured to have six truly dedicated men to do my work. I see we will have a long relationship together. Jared and Liam already have my direct protection. Troy, Tyler, Darren and Josh you are now also under my direct protection. Liam and Jared have a lot of teaching to do for you four to learn what my protection is. Use it well with a true heart and true love."
He paused for a moment. "I need your help," said the buffalo.
The men standing before him kneeled to one knee and bowed their head. "Anything you ask Creator will be done."
The buffalo coughed, lifting his head straight up and shaking it. "I am honored you would help me. You have already started helping three of your new brothers... You also have two that are yet to cross your path in life. My children, the future will lead you to new challenges which will test both your commitment and love for each other. The future is cloudy for you, my children. Depending upon the path you travel, one of you may cause extreme heartache for your family of brothers. Another path may involve the choice of ultimate sacrifice to save the lives of others. There are many paths which will lead you all on your journey through life, but you must always make the wisest choice. Not the easiest, or the most convenient choice, the wisest one my children. Jared, the new family members must do their vision quest soon and the sooner the better for their safety."
With that, he turned into a glowing orb and floated through the broken window.
Rob came back into the chapel and called out, "The kids are on their way out."
"Send the counsellor's and other adults out next," Liam called out. Rob disappeared again into the kitchen area. He returned a moment later and called out, "Done!"
Jared looked at the five men on the floor and spoke. "You will walk out the front door with your hands up. You will answer every question put to you by the police. You will cooperate with them by providing them with all the information in your heads. Do you understand?"
Very calmly, they all responded yes.
"You will also forget what you saw us do as well as the Creator in the form of the buffalo. Do you understand?"
Again, they responded, "Yes."
"Leave the building and admit your guilt," commanded Jared.
The men stood and walked to the door. They raised their hands and walked outside. The police were moving in from all directions now and taking all adults into custody until they could figure who was and was not involved.
"You guys need to end the trance soon," said Liam as he turned to his four brothers. They were already gone. Liam and Jared were now back to wearing their paramedic uniforms as well.
Rob walked up to them and stood there. "Jared, I just don't know what to make of this. Are you guys gods or what? What was that talking buffalo? You guys were totally glowing bright white in color."
Liam slowly reached up and touched Rob on the elbow. He entered into Rob's mind and saw the conflicts with his memories. The teachings of the church and his parents' upbringing. He placed new order into Rob's mind, "You will remember nothing from the time you fell over after the pastor slapped you until you wake up in the hospital." Rob froze while this was being done. Liam then placed a set of new memories into Rob's mind, "You were slammed into a wall and lost consciousness. Sleep." Rob collapsed to the floor.
Jared looked at Rob and then up at Liam. "It was the right thing to do, my soulmate."
"You don't know the half of it, Jared. He was conflicted and tore to the inner core with what he saw. It was all way too much, too soon," replied Liam.
They had no more conversation as the police came in and secured the scene. The police called for the ambulances to come up to the doors. One of the crews took care of Rob, while the other took Liam as a precaution.
The police Inspector saw Jared and walked over to him. "Thank you for doing this Jared," he said.
"The Creator did it, Sir. There is no more evil in this building, or in the people who came out of the building. The evil was destroyed, as I promised," said Jared.
"I believe it, Jared," said the Inspector. He extended his hand towards Jared. "May the peace of the Creator be with you Jared."
Jared took his hand and replied, "And also with you, Inspector."
"I will keep your name and Liam's out of this as much as possible. I take it I can have your shot-up ambulance towed back into town?" he asked.
Just then, Jared felt himself embraced by two men from behind.
The three of them hugged tightly. "Tyler, Josh... it's good to see you brothers," said Jared.
"It good to see you too, brother," replied Tyler.
The Inspector jumped into the conversation. "I assume you will catch a ride with your brothers, Jared?"
"If you have no further need for us, Sir," replied Jared.
"None at all, please drive home carefully," he said.
The three of them left the church and started walking to Tyler's car. Jared reached out and slapped the back of Tyler's head.
"Ouch! That one hurt!" whined Tyler.
"Really Tyler? Really? You were going to piss on them?" asked Jared.
Tyler had one hand rubbing his head where Jared had slapped him. "It seemed like a good idea at the time."
Tyler, Josh, and Jared were getting into the car while Jared kept saying, "Really Tyler?" If someone had been close enough, just before the last door of the police car had closed, they would have heard Josh asking Jared if Tyler was going to get a spanking for being a bad wolf.
They had gone straight to the hospital and found Liam waiting for them in the emergency department. He looked at Tyler and started to speak, but was cut off by Jared telling him he had already been dealt with. Liam looked at Tyler and said once, "Really Tyler?" to laughter of the group.
"How's Rob?" asked Tyler.
"They want to keep him over night to watch for signs of a concussion. He will probably be off work for a few days as well," said Liam. "He's shook up pretty good, but will recover just fine."
Jared was deep in thought. Speaking in the voice of someone thinking aloud, "So if Rob came out with you, and is off work for a few days, who is running the base right now?"
Liam smiled at Jared. "She wants to see you ASAP, and she said to bring those two fucking flatfoots and the piss-ant hose puller with you."
The three men spoke at once, "Oh God, it's the Dragon Lady and now she wants to meet Darren!"
